The Benefits of CBD

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second most abundant substance found in cannabis: it is non-psychoactive, non-addictive, and has a wide range of therapeutic applications.

Many people are starting to appreciate CBD and its benefits, and several scientific studies are carrying out research on its effects and possible applications. The interest on the part of the scientific community for the therapeutic potential of CBD is increasing, it has already been used in several studies for the treatment of numerous health problems and is now recognized as one of the main elements of "Therapeutic Cannabis".

Here are the top 10 benefits of CBD:

  1. Anxiolytic and antipsychotic:
THECBD significantly reduces two important forms of anxiety, OCD and PTSD. It is particularly effective as an antipsychotic and as a remedy for anxiety and stress and is increasingly used to combat insomnia and depression.
  2. Analgesic:
CBD-based products are able to quickly reduce the sense of nausea and have a high degree of digestibility, stimulate appetite and relieve pain: for this reason they are effectively used as an adjunct in anticancer therapies and as support in the treatment of HIV. They have a relaxing and sedative effect, reduce inflammation and tension, managing to relieve painful symptoms associated with various pathologies; they are also excellent allies in combating asthma and controlling diabetes and blood sugar.
  3. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant:
CBD, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, is a valuable aid in the treatment of skin diseases such as psoriasis, helps treat acne, hydrates and softens the skin thanks to essential fatty acids. In addition, thanks to the antioxidants that fight free radicals, it performs an important anti-aging function and protects the brain from possible neurodegenerative diseases.
  4. Acne cure:
Take a look at the skin care products department and you will find that among the natural ointments and ointments there will be many containing industrial hemp. Hemp and CBD contain several very beneficial anti-inflammatory components that help inhibit lipid synthesis. In fact, CBD acts on the human sebaceous glands, producing a "triple" anti-acne action on skin cells. Cannabidiol has the ability to naturally suppress cell proliferation.
  5. Antitumor and anticarcinogenic:
One of the most interesting and encouraging research fields on CBD concerns the efficacy of CBD in tumor reduction and inhibition of tumor cell proliferation. Cannabinoids bind to receptors in our endocannabinoid system to hinder the formation of tumor metastases, inhibiting possible tumor growth and limiting the migration of cancer cells into the body.
The potential applications of cannabis for cancer patients are now known and scientifically proven. In addition, cannabinoids also have the ability to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy, reducing pain and vomiting and inducing pleasant feelings of euphoria.
  6. Insomnia:
Research suggests that taking cannabidiol before bed improves sleep in people with insomnia and helps them fall asleep.
  7. Antidepressant:
According to the researchers, CBD has an efficacy similar to that of antidepressants. One study found that cannabidiol's antidepressant effects are fast, continuous over time, and comparable to a common antidepressant drug.
  8. Antiepileptic:
The aforementioned study was led by Orrin Devinsky, director of the New York University Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.
One hundred and twenty patients aged 2 to 18 received an oral CBD solution and a control group received a placebo solution.
Patients who took CBD showed a reduction in seizures of about half in one month, as opposed to the placebo group which showed negligible decline.
Specifically due to side effects, such as vomiting, fever, diarrhea, eight patients withdrew from the trial while in five the convulsions were even reduced to zero.
  9. Autism:
A cannabis extract with high CBD content and low THC concentrations has proven effective in alleviating the problems of children with autism spectrum disorder. These are the results of the first clinical study analyzing the effects of cannabis on autistic children published in Neurology. Until now, the evidence that cannabinoids can help improve the quality of life of people with autism has only been anecdotal.
Following cannabis treatment, behavioral disturbances were improved or greatly improved in 61% of patients. Anxiety and communication problems were improved in 39% and much improved in 47%. Disturbing behaviors were improved by 29%. Parents reported less stress as shown by the APSI scores, with an improvement of 33%. The authors concluded that: "This preliminary study supports the feasibility of high-CBD medical cannabis as a promising treatment option for refractory behavior problems in children with autism spectrum disorder."
  10. Other pathologies and benefits:
Researchers from the University College of London's Psychopharmacology Clinical Unit have demonstrated the potential of CBD in combating nicotine addiction. In a study published in Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, researchers concluded that CBD could be used to ward off alcohol-induced brain damage, while researchers from New York's Mount Sinai School of Medicine found that it can prevent fat accumulation. from alcohol in the liver, preventing fatty liver disease, a pathology that over time can lead to hepatitis and cirrhosis.
According to researchers from the Department of Pharmacology at King Faisal University in Al-Ahsa: "Cannabidiol could represent a possible option to protect liver tissue from the damaging effects of cadmium."
